K-5 Design in Programming Activities

This is the project website for my PhD. This page includes the different “instruments” I created along the way, such as consent forms and interview sheets, surveys, interview schedules and resources used in professional development and the design toolkit itself.

Study 1

Information and consent form: This is the information and consent sheet used by participants for Study 1.

Interview schedule and activity: This is the schedule used during Study 1 interviews.

Study 2

Teacher survey: This is the teacher survey, including information and consent used in Study 2.

Study 3 – developing the draft toolkit

PD workshop plan: This is the workshop plan used in the PD when developing the draft toolkit.

PD presentation: This is the presentation used in the PD when developing the draft toolkit.

Professional development (PD) cut-down toolkit: This is the pilot version of the toolkit used in PD to develop the draft toolkit.

Study 3 – reviewing the toolkit with expert teachers

Information and consent sheet: This is the information and consent sheet used by participants for Study 3.

Interview schedule: This is the schedule used during Study 3 interviews. Although it should be noted that the design toolkit formed the main driver for the Study 3 semi-structured interview schedule.

Participant selection survey: This is the participant selection survey used in Study 3, including information and consent.

Sample activity lesson plan (Viking Raid): When using the toolkit, teachers referred to this sample activity lesson plan.

Sample activity slides (Viking Raid): When using the toolkit, teachers referred to these sample activity slides.

Draft design toolkit: This is the toolkit used with teachers in Study 3.
